MidCountry Bank's Prybylo named 'CIO of the Year'
Jay Prybylo, Chief Information Officer for MidCountry Bank, recognized by Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal

Minnetonka, Minn. (09-30-11) In its inaugural year, the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal has awarded the "CIO of the Year Award" to Jay Prybylo, Chief Information Officer of MidCountry Bank. Prybylo won in the category for "Corporate: 250 - 1,000 IT Users/Staff," and was honored at a luncheon at the Minneapolis Hilton Sept. 29, 2011.

Bank President Steve Meads recognized Prybylo as "a great leader not only for the IT team, but for the entire Bank, with his commitment to ensuring we are equipped with the right technology and systems to support current and future objectives. We are honored to have him as a part of our team."

Under Prybylo's leadership, MidCountry Bank recently completed the largest company-wide conversion in our history. A complete overhaul of the core technology system was needed, in addition to supporting advancements in online and mobile banking, as well as other conveniences expected by today's banking customers. Prybylo took complete responsibility for managing the intensive three-year process of defining the objectives, searching for new vendors, planning, and then finally converting. This was a huge undertaking, affecting all of the more than 300 team members at the Bank, which includes 23 branches and three mortgage offices (business units include Agricultural services, Business Banking, Insurance, Investments, Mortgage Banking, Leasing, and Retail Banking).

Project statistics:

  • The conversion took more than 18 months to fully implement and integrate

  • Converted 60-plus systems within our environment, from front-end customer deposits to everything on the back-end (including accounting, finance, collections, website, and loan administration)

  • Changed two outsourced vendors for our core system

  • Restructured the electronic funds transfer network onto a new platform

  • Changed the online banking platform

  • Internally and externally communicated updates and changes pre- and post-conversion

  • Installed a brand new, reconfigured mortgage origination system
