Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago Honors MidCountry and Rebuilding Together Metropolis.

CHICAGO (02-18-10) Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago (FHLBC) presented MidCountry Bank and Rebuilding Together with the first ever 2009 "Community First Partnership Award" at Harrah's Riverfront Event Center Feb. 18, 2010.

Metropolis Mayor Billy McDaniel began the award ceremony by welcoming everyone and acknowledging Don Pulliam, MidCountry Bank branch manager, for his active volunteerism. He thanked FHLBC for honoring the partnership between MidCountry Bank and Rebuilding Together, saying that they "could not have chosen a better recipient."

Matt Feldman, president and chief executive officer for FHLBC, continued by providing a brief synopsis of the award: to recognize outstanding achievement in either affordable housing and/or community economic development by a member bank and a non-profit community organization working in partnership to revitalize communities in Illinois or Wisconsin.

FHLBC Community Investment Officer Eldridge Edgecombe said he remembers last fall when two dozen applications were received for the first ever Community First Partnership Awards. He said one of the main things FHLBC was looking for was outstanding, ongoing partnerships that endure and help contribute to the community over time. Edgecombe said the relationship between Rebuilding Together Metropolis and MidCountry Bank is a demonstration of the award.
